Privacy
Short, because the site does very little. Everything below describes what it does today, and it is kept in step with the code rather than written once and forgotten.

What you type stays with you
There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no forms. The calculator runs entirely in your browser: the distance, the fuel price and the variant you pick never leave your device, are not saved anywhere, and are gone when you close the tab.
The one thing stored on your device is whether you chose dark mode. That sits in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
What is measured
Visits are counted with Google Analytics, so we can see which pages people actually use and which cars are worth adding next. It records the pages you open, roughly where in the world you are, and what device and browser you used.
It does not know who you are. Nothing here asks for your name, email or phone number, so there is nothing to tie a visit to a person.
Cookies
Google Analytics stores a cookie in your browser so it can tell a returning visit from a new one. That is the only cookie the site involves; none are used for advertising.
You can block it. Any browser setting or extension that blocks analytics will stop it, and the site works exactly the same without it.
Who your browser does talk to
The pages are plain files, but loading one means your browser fetches a few things from elsewhere. Those parties can see the same basic details any web request carries.
- Google Analytics counts visits so we know which pages people actually use, and your IP address, device and browser, the pages you open and roughly where you are, and it stores a cookie in your browser to tell one visit from the next.
- The host serves the pages and, like any web host, processes the request in order to answer it.
Links out
Some pages link to the sources a figure came from. Those sites have their own policies and this one does not cover them.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone, whatever their age.
Your rights
Nothing that identifies you is collected, so there is no account or profile here to access, correct or delete. What the analytics records is a visit, not a person.
If you would rather not be counted at all, block analytics in your browser and every page will still work.
If this changes
Adding ads, or any feature that stores what you type, would change all of the above. This page is written from the same list the site's code uses, so it is updated on the day a script is added, not afterwards.
