About

Every car listing in India shows you the same lab number. This site shows what that number turns into once the car is in traffic with the AC on.

What is here

113 models, 1564 variants and 281 separate engine ratings. For each one you get the city, mixed and highway figure, what a trip costs at today's pump price, and what the switch to E20 petrol did to it.

Where the numbers come from

The rated figures are the manufacturers' own certification numbers, the ones ARAI measures and the brochures print. They are collected from public listings rather than typed in by hand.

Some models have no published certification figure at all. Where a magazine has driven the car and measured it, or where owners have reported what they get, that number is used instead and the page says so in place of calling it a company rating. A figure is never invented and a driven figure is never dressed up as an official one.

One thing worth knowing

Mileage belongs to an engine and a gearbox, not to a trim. A car with forty variants usually has four or five ratings. The base trim and the top trim on the same engine return the same figure; the leather seats do not cost you a kilometre. Every model page groups the variants by engine so you can see this for yourself.

What is estimated

The certification test is one combined lab cycle, so nobody publishes a separate city and highway figure. This site derives them from the rating:

  • City is 72% of the rating, for signals, idling and the air conditioning.
  • Mixed is 82%.
  • Highway is 95%.
  • A full car with the AC running takes a further 10% off.

The ethanol adjustment follows ARAI's laboratory tests, which put the mileage drop with E20 at 2% to 6%. That is spread evenly across the ethanol content so each blend gets its own figure. The full method, with its assumptions and sources, is on the methodology page.

These are estimates and the pages label them as such. They are meant to be close enough to plan around, not exact. Your own driving will move them more than any of these factors.

What is not here

No reviews, no ratings, no affiliate links, no dealer enquiry forms. The site answers one question and gets out of the way.
